FONTAINES D.C. TEAM UP WITH SPANISH SINGER ROSALÍA ON NEW SONG

Fontaines D.C. and ROSALÍA join forces on “Where Is Gone?”, a cinematic collaboration that brings Irish post-punk and Spanish musical influences together on a standout track from Dopamine Chamber.

Fontaines D.C. have joined forces with Spanish superstar ROSALÍA for an unexpected collaboration, “Where Is Gone?”, bringing two distinctive musical worlds together on a sweeping new track.

Released on 12 October 2026, the song sees the Irish band explore a more cinematic, orchestral sound, with ROSALÍA’s unmistakable vocals adding a new dimension to their familiar blend of atmospheric guitars and introspective songwriting.

An Unexpected Collaboration

Known for their brooding post-punk sound and poetic lyrics, Fontaines D.C. might not be the first band you would associate with one of Spain’s biggest contemporary music stars. But “Where Is Gone?” shows just how naturally their contrasting styles can work together.

Frontman Grian Chatten and ROSALÍA trade vocals across the track, their voices weaving through a slow-building arrangement that feels both intimate and expansive. Rather than leaning into an obvious pop-rock crossover, the collaboration takes a more restrained, melancholic approach.

The result is a meeting of two artists with distinctive identities, finding common ground without losing what makes each of them unique.

A Connection Between Irish and Spanish Music

The collaboration also carries a personal significance for Fontaines D.C. guitarist Carlos O’Connell, who grew up between Spanish and Irish cultures.

O’Connell has spoken about his admiration for ROSALÍA and the way she has helped preserve and reinterpret Spanish musical traditions. He sees a connection with Fontaines D.C.’s own relationship with Irish culture, poetry and musical identity.

That shared appreciation helps explain why the pairing feels more meaningful than a surprise feature designed simply to grab attention. Both artists have built their careers around drawing from their backgrounds while continuing to push their sound in new directions.

A New Chapter for Fontaines D.C.

“Where Is Gone?” arrived as the third single from Fontaines D.C.’s fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, released on 16 October 2026 through XL Recordings.

Following 2024’s acclaimed Romance, the new record continues the band’s evolution, embracing a more expansive and atmospheric sound while retaining the emotional intensity that has made them one of the most compelling groups in modern alternative rock.

The collaboration with ROSALÍA marks the first time the band have featured a guest vocalist on one of their studio albums, making it a notable moment in their catalogue.

For ROSALÍA, meanwhile, the track offers another opportunity to move between musical worlds, bringing her distinctive vocal presence into a darker, guitar-led setting.

Two Different Worlds, One Standout Track

The appeal of “Where Is Gone?” lies in the space between its two performers. Fontaines D.C.’s restrained, melancholic delivery meets ROSALÍA’s expressive vocals, creating a song that feels cinematic without losing its intimacy.

It is not the loud, immediate crossover some listeners might have expected. Instead, it is a slower-burning collaboration that rewards attention, allowing both artists to bring something different to the same musical landscape.

With Dopamine Chamber now out, “Where Is Gone?” stands as one of the record’s most unexpected moments, and a reminder that some of the most interesting collaborations happen when artists step outside their usual worlds.
