Wunderhorse are set to support Sam Fender on his 2027 UK stadium dates, but they’re not listed for his Dublin show at Marlay Park. Could Inhaler, The Murder Capital or another Irish act take the support slot?

Sam Fender has announced a huge run of UK and Ireland shows for summer 2027, but fans have spotted one notable difference in the line-up: Wunderhorse are not listed as support for his Dublin date.

The Newcastle singer-songwriter will bring his Proper Massive Stadium Tour to Marlay Park on 1 July 2027, giving Irish fans another chance to catch one of the biggest names in British indie rock live. However, while Wunderhorse are set to join Fender at his UK stadium shows, the Dublin date appears to be the exception.

Why Aren’t Wunderhorse Playing Dublin?

Wunderhorse have become closely associated with Fender after previously supporting him on the road. Their raw, guitar-driven sound makes them a natural fit for his live shows, so their absence from the Dublin bill is bound to raise questions.

At the moment, there is no confirmed explanation for why the band are not listed for Marlay Park. It could simply come down to scheduling, logistics or a different support arrangement being planned for the Irish show.

Whatever the reason, it leaves a space on the bill, and plenty of room for speculation about who could fill it.

Who Could Support Sam Fender in Dublin?

While no replacement act has been officially announced, there are a few Irish indie names fans could imagine sharing the stage with Fender.

Inhaler would be an obvious contender. The Dublin band have built a substantial following of their own and have the kind of arena-ready indie rock that could suit a major outdoor show.

The Murder Capital could offer a darker, more intense alternative. Their post-punk sound would make for a compelling contrast with Fender’s anthemic songwriting, while still fitting comfortably into the wider guitar-music scene.

Fontaines D.C. are another name fans might throw into the conversation. The Dublin group have become one of Ireland’s biggest alternative exports, although there is currently no evidence linking them to the show.

Of course, these are possibilities rather than reported bookings. The eventual choice could just as easily be a rising Irish act given the opportunity to play to a huge Marlay Park crowd.

An Opportunity for an Irish Breakthrough?

With Fender bringing his biggest headline tour to date to Dublin, the support slot could be a major opportunity for a homegrown band. A high-profile appearance in front of thousands of fans could introduce a rising act to a much wider audience.

For now, the only thing clear is that Wunderhorse are not listed for the Dublin date, despite being named for the UK stadium shows. Until further details emerge, fans will have to wait to find out who joins Fender at Marlay Park.

Who would you like to see supporting Sam Fender in Dublin? Would you go for an established Irish name like Inhaler, or would you rather see a newer band get the opportunity?
